Fobs were great but getting them programmed locally was ugly. People with the tools and skills to program the fobs and cut the spare keys are not happy to do it (they wanted to sell new fobs) and that is reflected in the price they charge and the money has to be upfront. Failure or success costs the same. So the big savings shrinks but it was still cheaper than ordering new units. Did two keys and saved about $100 each over a potential price of $650 for the two fobs. So go for it and don't worry.
