You’re running late to that big board meeting, so you throw your briefcase on the passenger seat and go to start the car. However instead of turning over, the car key breaks off in your hand! Now you have half of a car key stuck inside of the ignition while you’re holding onto the other half, and you’re probably wondering what in the world do I do now? After they careful extract the broken piece from your car, now you are left with the option of getting the key repaired or purchasing a new key. There are certainly situations where you may be able to repair your key, but those cases are very rare. After all, most keys are made out of material that is too thin to superglue together!
If you have a spare set of keys lying around, you may not have to worry about purchasing a new set of car keys right off the bat. If you’re in a situation where you don’t have a spare set of keys, the locksmith that you contacted may be able to take your broken car key back to his office and create a new key based off of it. This will be a costly process due to the locksmith making a house call, but it is the only way to get you and your car back on the road!
